Schertz's proposed fiscal 2027 budget raises water rates 8%, sewer rates 8% and garbage rates 3.8%, for an estimated $7.91 monthly increase on the average bill.

Residential drainage customers would also pay $11 per living unit equivalent, up from $8, if the proposal is adopted.

The two figures use different baselines: $7.91 is the city’s estimate for the combined water, sewer and garbage changes, while the drainage increase is $3 per living unit equivalent. Both remain proposed.

The Sept. 15 agenda schedules a public hearing and possible adoption of the fiscal 2027 operating and capital budget. The scheduled hearing and possible adoption are the next steps for the proposed budget and its utility changes. Comal.News previously detailed the separate Schertz tax-rate proposal, which council is scheduled to consider at the same meeting.

Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex Council Chambers, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building 4. Residents can use the meeting agenda to inspect item 13 and follow the public hearing; the recorded action will show whether council adopts or changes the proposal.
