Schertz adopted its fiscal 2026-27 budget and a $0.5296 property-tax rate, and both take effect Oct. 1.
Schertz property owners now have a final city tax rate and an Oct. 1 effective date for the fiscal plan.
The city posted the announcement Sept. 17 and said the City Council adopted the budget and rate during its Sept. 15 meeting. That changes the plan’s status from the proposal Comal.News previously tracked to an adopted budget for the fiscal year that begins next month.
The city’s notice establishes the adopted rate, the council-action date and the effective date. This brief does not treat the rate as a uniform bill for every property. Individual city taxes depend on the taxable value and exemptions applied to a property.
