The New Braunfels Historic Landmark Commission is set to revisit proposed alterations at 195 E. Coll St. on Nov. 10.

The request concerns a property in the Stock Historic District and includes an accessibility ramp, rear door, fence and railing work, exposed front fachwerk, and German schmear. Those elements are proposed work, not approved changes.

At its Oct. 13 meeting, the commission tabled the 195 E. Coll request 7-0 pending more information. The Nov. 10 packet presents a revised access arrangement, making the location of the ramp and door the clearest change for readers following the application.

The Coll Street revisions

The revised plan places an accessibility ramp and a new door at the rear of 195 E. Coll, according to the meeting packet. The item report describes a move away from a ramp along Comal Avenue and the front wraparound toward the rear parking area. Staff describes the proposed rear work as being at a newer addition, without directly affecting the oldest portion of the building. The commission’s review will determine whether the proposed changes receive a certificate of alteration.

Isaac Pruna’s application is listed as case HST26-311, agenda item 5A. The combination of an access change and exterior treatments gives residents several distinct parts of the plan to examine: where visitors would enter, what would be added at the rear, and what work is proposed on the street-facing exterior. The posted materials establish the proposal; they do not predict how commissioners will assess each element.

Downtown signs and earlier action

Nancy Hierl seeks a certificate of alteration for two wall signs at 297 and 299 W. San Antonio St. in the Downtown historic district. The Nov. 10 application is listed as HST26-386 under item 5B. A reader comparing this proposal with the commission’s earlier work should use the new case number: the packet’s draft Oct. 13 minutes record a 6-1 denial of an earlier wall-sign request identified as HST26-316. That earlier vote is background, not a decision on the application now scheduled.

Other business and participation

The agenda begins with a call to order and roll call. Commissioners are also scheduled to consider approval of their Oct. 13 minutes, identified as item 26-1327. Citizens’ communications follow for concerns outside the posted agenda; the agenda says the commission cannot act on those matters at that time. Preservation Texas updates and Comal County Historical Commission updates are listed as discussion items before adjournment.

The Historic Landmark Commission meeting is scheduled for Nov. 10, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in the Tejas Room at City Hall, 550 Landa Street, New Braunfels. The posted agenda provides the meeting location and the two case identifiers for residents who want to follow the property requests. For accessibility assistance, it directs people to contact the City Secretary at (830) 221-4010 at least two workdays before the meeting.

The commission is scheduled to consider the Coll Street and downtown sign applications on Nov. 10. After the meeting, its recorded decisions and minutes will be the next records to check for the disposition of each case and any public testimony. Readers can inspect the agenda packet for the proposed work and the draft earlier minutes while following those case numbers.
