The Comal County Tax Office says property taxes are due when the statement arrives and should be paid by Jan. 31 to avoid penalty and interest.

That deadline applies to taxes the office collects. Its property page says the office sends statements to property owners and mortgage companies after it receives certified values and the taxing jurisdictions' adopted rates.

The county's property tax page states the Jan. 31 payment deadline without assigning a year to that sentence.

A missing bill does not remove the obligation to pay, according to the county. The Tax Office says unpaid current taxes become delinquent Feb. 1 in the year after they are imposed, when penalty and interest begin. Its Tax Office announcement still names Jan. 31, 2026, as a deadline; the property page states the Jan. 31 rule without a year. Check the due date on your own statement or ask the office before treating either page as a year-specific notice for a 2026 bill.

Find your bill and choose a payment method

Start at the county's property page, which lists a Property Search tool and a separate Truth-in-Taxation Property Search tool. Use the property search to look up the account you intend to pay, then compare its statement with any mortgage-company payment arrangement you have. If you cannot find the account or are unsure whether the county collects for your taxing jurisdiction, call the Property Tax Department at 830-221-1353.

For accounts collected by the Comal County Tax Office, eCheck payments carry no fee, while credit and debit card payments carry a 2.15% vendor fee with a $2 minimum. The office lists online payment, mailing and drop-off at Tax Office locations. Its payment-methods page also accepts cash, checks, cashier's checks and money orders; make checks payable to the Comal County Tax Office. To pay a full amount by credit card over the phone, the listed number is 866-549-1010 and the bureau code is 4815691.

Mail property-tax payments to Comal County Tax Office, P.O. Box 659480, San Antonio, TX 78265-9480. For a payment near the deadline, the property page says the envelope must be postmarked by Jan. 31; a Feb. 1 postmark draws penalty and interest for a February payment. The Tax Office's physical address is 205 N. Seguin Avenue, New Braunfels, and its listed hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Installments and prepayment

The county lists a four-payment installment option for qualifying owners with a homestead exemption who meet its age, disability, disabled-veteran or surviving-spouse criteria. The schedule is separate from the ordinary single-payment deadline. The county says late installments incur penalty and interest; owners should confirm eligibility and enrollment with the Tax Office.

InstallmentDue date
FirstJan. 31
SecondMarch 31
ThirdMay 31
Fourth and finalJuly 31

The county property page lists these dates without a tax year.

The property page also says the Tax Assessor-Collector is accepting prepayment of 2026 property taxes through an escrow agreement, including an option to pay monthly. It directs interested owners to an agreement link or to the office at 830-221-1353. Prepayment and the qualifying homestead installment plan are different options; ask the office which arrangement fits your account before sending money.

Where to check next

Use the Tax Office's property page to find its account-search link, installment schedule and prepayment information. For the payment options, office location, mailing address or a question about a particular bill, use the county's Tax Office page or call its Property Tax Department at 830-221-1353. This guide covers taxes collected by that office; verify your own account and any separately billed taxes with the relevant collector.
