Comal County commissioners will consider renewing CountyChoice Silver at $610.50 a month for each retiree on Plan G with Rx Option 1, up $17.66 from $592.84, with the new rate effective Jan. 1, 2027.
Retirees remain direct-billed for 100% of the premium, so the proposed increase would add $17.66 a month—$211.92 a year—to each affected retiree’s cost.
The renewal form marks continuation of the current medical and prescription plan and the existing direct-bill arrangement. The program is for qualifying Medicare-eligible retirees enrolled in Parts A and B, and the packet lists open enrollment from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.
The Sept. 24 agenda places the renewal at item 11 and asks commissioners to authorize the county judge to sign it. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom at 100 Main Plaza in New Braunfels; the workshop agenda permits three-minute citizen comments.
The next public checkpoint is the court’s action on item 11. If commissioners approve the proposal, the renewal form is due to the Texas Association of Counties by Oct. 1, three months before the proposed rate takes effect.
