County lists about $159,000 in rebate invoices for HD Supply and Costco

County taxpayers can now inspect about $159,000 in rebate invoices designated for HD Supply and Costco; the packet does not establish that either business has been paid.

Comal County's Nov. 5 claims packet lists $159,020.29 in sales-and-use-tax rebate invoices for HD Supply Facilities Maintenance and Costco Wholesale.

The county's accounts-payable report, run Nov. 3, identifies the businesses and amounts on its first two pages; readers can inspect the entries in the Nov. 5 claims packet.

The listed rebates designate $124,645.13 for HD Supply Facilities Maintenance and $34,375.16 for Costco Wholesale. Those are amounts assigned to the two businesses in the county's rebate-invoice category, not evidence that either business received a payment. The HD Supply entry covers September 2026; the Costco entry covers May through July 2026.

Costco WholesaleMay–July 2026$34,375.16

Amounts are invoice entries in the Nov. 3 accounts-payable report, not verified payments.

The two entries add to $159,020.29. In practical terms, the county records a rebate invoice for each named business and covered period in accounts payable. The report labels the invoices “Edit.” That status describes their place in the claims report; a later payment record would be needed to establish whether money went out and when.

An earlier county claims packet dated Oct. 1 also carried an HD Supply sales-tax rebate line. That earlier listing provides a point of comparison for the recurring payee, but this Nov. 5 packet supplies the current amounts and periods described here. The Oct. 1 line should not be added to the November total without establishing that it represents a separate obligation.

A separate tax-increment entry

The next useful check is the county's subsequent payment record for the two rebate invoices, alongside the agreements that set their terms. Readers can use the county's weekly financial claims page to follow later claims packets and compare any payment documentation with the invoice amounts and periods shown here.
