Comal County says its burn ban is temporarily lifted until noon Sunday, Nov. 1. The county posted the alert at noon Friday, Oct. 30, giving residents a short window before the stated end time.

Residents considering an outdoor burn still must follow Texas outdoor-burning rules and check the county’s current burn-ban status before lighting a fire. Lifting the county ban does not remove those separate rules, according to the county’s outdoor-burn guidance.

The Fire Marshal’s guidance tells residents to understand Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rules and check wind speeds before burning. It also gives 830-643-3748 as the number to verify whether the burn ban is off. Residents can review the county’s outdoor-burning rules before making plans.

The next status point is noon Sunday, Nov. 1, the time specified in the alert. The county’s burn-ban alert is the place to check for a subsequent notice; the posted alert does not say whether another change will be issued before then.
