TxDOT lists a nighttime closure of the southbound US 281 main lanes at the FM 1863 bridge approaches from Oct. 28 through Oct. 29, with traffic detoured onto entrance and exit ramps.
The agency’s DriveTexas condition entry says crews are making base repairs at the bridge approaches and that delays are expected.

Southbound drivers near FM 1863 should expect the ramp detour and possible delays during the night work. TxDOT places the affected stretch from about 1,668 feet north of FM 1863 to about 2,038 feet south of it. The listing gives dates and says “night work only,” but supplies no start or reopening hour.
This is a different DriveTexas event from the Oct. 27–28 southbound work: that earlier entry listed alternating lane closures and no detour. The newer entry specifically lists closed main lanes and a detour, so drivers who traveled the corridor during the earlier work should check the current condition before relying on that experience.
TxDOT lists Oct. 29 as the end date. Drivers can check the US 281 entry on DriveTexas for any change to the detour or schedule before traveling; the posted entry does not establish exact nightly closure hours.
