Selma’s Sept. 10 agenda proposes raising city wastewater charges to pass through a treatment-rate increase imposed by the Cibolo Creek Municipal Authority.

If the council adopts Ordinance 091026, Selma wastewater customers will pay a higher city charge; the posted agenda does not state the dollar increase or when it would first appear on a bill.

The increase remains a proposal. Item 5 schedules discussion and possible action on the ordinance, which would amend Appendix A, the fee schedule in Selma’s code, and set an effective date.

The Numbers Customers Still Need

The final ordinance must show how much each customer class would pay and when the change would begin. Those figures will establish whether the pass-through changes a flat monthly charge, a usage-based charge or another part of the wastewater bill.

The council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Selma City Hall, 9375 Corporate Drive. The agenda includes a citizens-to-be-heard period with a three-minute limit for each speaker.

Residents can inspect Item 5 in the official agenda before the meeting. The ordinance considered by council and the recorded vote should establish the final charges, effective date and whether the proposal was adopted.
