A traffic-calming plan for Pahmeyer Road will go before the New Braunfels Transportation and Traffic Advisory Board on Thursday, Aug. 13. The board’s newly posted agenda calls for members to discuss the plan and consider approving it, but it does not identify the proposed traffic-calming measures.
The same meeting will bring another street-level decision: whether to recommend that City Council amend two sections of the city code to establish prohibited parking and loading zones on Zipp Road, Klein Meadows and Legend Pond. The agenda does not specify the affected block faces, hours or dimensions of those proposed zones.
Because that item is framed as a recommendation, the transportation board’s action would not itself amend the ordinance. Any code change would still have to move to City Council for consideration.
Speed limits and Vision Zero also on the agenda
Board members are also scheduled to receive an update on establishing speed limits on Mission Drive and surrounding neighborhood streets. That item is listed as a presentation and update, not as an action item, so the agenda does not promise a vote or a final speed-limit decision Thursday.
Two other presentations concern the city’s process for authorizing and installing traffic-control devices and the continuing Vision Zero and Street Safety Action Plan. The agenda offers no supporting packet or project-level figures for those presentations.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 in the Tejas Room at City Hall, 550 Landa Street. The agenda includes a citizens’ communications period for matters not listed on the agenda, although the board cannot take action on those comments during that period.
For residents along Pahmeyer Road and the three streets named in the parking proposal, the next useful records will be the measures presented to the board, the board’s recorded recommendations and any resulting City Council ordinance materials. Until those records are posted, the agenda establishes only what is scheduled for review—not what will be installed or enacted.
