Novel November begins Monday, Nov. 2, with writing sprints from 6 to 8 p.m. at the New Braunfels Public Library Main Branch.

The first session is listed for the Red Lantana room. The library and NB Writers Guild describe the program as a 30-day writing challenge.

Residents can drop into Monday sessions at the Main Branch or Thursday free-writing sessions at Westside without signing up. Both run from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the library listing. Writers set their own goals; fiction, nonfiction, poetry, stage plays and screenplays all count.

The Monday listing shows sessions on Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. A separate library listing confirms a Westside free-writing session on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The challenge is open to different formats, so a participant does not need to be drafting a novel to take part.

Before heading out, residents can check the library's Nov. 2 event listing for the Monday dates and the weekly branch schedule. The Westside session listing gives its Nov. 19 time and room information.
