New Braunfels has scheduled an Oct. 1 forum at City Hall on how property-tax exemptions can support housing projects built through public-private partnerships.
Residents can attend from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and ask questions about how those exemptions and partnerships could apply in a growing New Braunfels.
District 3 Councilmember D. Lee Edwards will host the session. The city says Summer Greathouse, a Bracewell LLP partner whose work includes public-sector housing partnerships, will present before a question-and-answer period.
The city says the presentation will explain exemptions available to qualifying projects involving nonprofit, private or public development partners. It is also expected to address requirements, safeguards and the ways the tools may support additional housing.
The forum is a public explanation of those financing tools, not a City Council vote or approval of a housing project. Residents will have an opportunity to question the presenter about how the arrangements work and what protections accompany them.
The session is scheduled for New Braunfels City Hall, 550 Landa St. Residents can use the city’s official event notice to verify the schedule and stated program before attending. The forum itself is the next verification point; presentation materials, video or a later housing proposal could show how the discussion connects to future city action.
