New Braunfels is considering a three-year Gener8tor startup accelerator with a maximum public authorization of $1.2 million and two local cohorts a year.
The proposal would give New Braunfels founders six accelerator cohorts, a city-based program employee, quarterly networking events and a local showcase over three years.
The city describes gBETA as an early-stage program built around individual coaching, mentors, investor connections and peer work. Gener8tor would also maintain office space inside the city and develop a Lunch & Learn series. The item presents those services as proposed deliverables.
The price and the public-money context
The proposal prices the program at $375,000 a year—$1.125 million across three years—before possible reductions tied to complimentary office space and annual investment by the New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation.
On Sept. 14, the council approved a separate NBEDC administrative, professional and asset-management contract with the city for up to $455,386 for fiscal 2027; Councilmember Nikki Shaw opposed it.

What happens Sept. 30
The city item classifies the Sept. 30 workshop as a presentation and says council action is not required.
