New Braunfels opened Arts & Heritage Grant applications Oct. 1, with completed submissions due by 5 p.m. Oct. 31.
Tax-exempt nonprofit arts and heritage organizations can seek city hotel-tax funding for eligible local cultural and historic programs. The grants draw on the city's hotel occupancy tax, which the city says sets aside 15% of revenue for arts and cultural organizations and programs.
Eligible arts work spans music, dance, theater, writing, visual arts and other forms. Heritage applications may support historic restoration or preservation, museum visits and tourism promotion. Applicants must have nonprofit status under the criteria described in the city's notice.
The city says applicants must create an account to use its online application system and upload completed materials to the City Secretary's portal. The city's grant notice gives the application route and eligibility details.

How much will be available for this round remains a question for the council's allocation. The city says the annual grant amount depends on the prior year's hotel-tax collections; it cited about $703,073 allocated from 2025 collections as an example. Applicants can check the city's notice for the filing instructions before the Oct. 31 deadline and watch for the council's eventual allocation.
