New Braunfels Utilities scheduled an alternating one-lane closure on McQueeney Road between Northpark Ridge and Walnut Heights Boulevard from Sept. 23 through Oct. 29, 2026.
NBU's construction notice says one lane is to remain open under temporary traffic signals while the other is closed 24 hours a day. The dates describe NBU's published schedule, not an independently verified road condition on Oct. 12.
Drivers should allow extra time and use caution while temporary signals direct traffic through the open lane. The restriction affects the stretch between Northpark Ridge and Walnut Heights Boulevard; motorists using that segment should follow the temporary signals and watch for crews.
Why NBU is doing the work
The closure is part of NBU's $8 million South Kuehler Interceptor Phase 1 wastewater upgrade. NBU says the project will replace and enlarge an interceptor approaching capacity and replace an adjacent interceptor in poor condition. Its stated scope includes about 6,200 feet of 36- and 42-inch wastewater main and about 1,000 feet of smaller lines. Those are project plans; the notice does not establish that the work is complete.
What to check next
Oct. 29 is the scheduled end of this lane restriction. Before relying on that date for a trip, drivers can check NBU's McQueeney Road construction notice for any subsequent traffic update. A later NBU construction alert or road-status notice will establish whether the schedule changes.
