Fair Oaks Ranch moved the start of the 1.2-mile Dietz Elkhorn Road East reconstruction from late August to Sept. 8 so Spectrum can finish relocating cable lines from the right of way.
Drivers between Fair Oaks Parkway and FM 3351 should expect intermittent partial lane closures during Spectrum’s relocation work, followed by about a year of three-phase road construction beginning Sept. 8.
The city says Spectrum obtained its permit early this year, but the relocation had not progressed fast enough to support the road project’s schedule. After two coordination meetings with the city, its engineer and the construction contractor, Spectrum mobilized and set an end-of-August target for clearing the right of way.
What the road project will change
The voter-funded project will rebuild the roadway, add drainage improvements and five-foot paved shoulders on both sides, adjust utilities and driveways, and install a new 12-inch water main beneath the north shoulder.
This east-segment reconstruction is separate from the west-segment maintenance closure scheduled for Aug. 15, as the city memo explains. The earlier closure covered the section between Noble Lark Road and Fair Oaks Parkway.
Spectrum’s expected end-of-August clearance is the next checkpoint. The city’s next construction update should define the first phase’s traffic pattern and show whether the Sept. 8 start remains on schedule.
