Approval would shift routine road maintenance to Comal County and end the financial security tied to the subdivision work.
Comal County commissioners are scheduled to consider accepting Simmons Valley South Entry Road 1 into the county road system on Oct. 1 while releasing an $892,422.23 letter of credit. The proposal appears as Item 8 on the court’s Oct. 1 agenda.
Commissioners would also direct the county engineer to execute PIPROW permit No. 109635, which the engineering record says assigns maintenance responsibility for private landscaping, irrigation and utilities within the right of way.
Assistant County Engineer David Vollbrecht wrote that the road and drainage work was complete and appeared substantially consistent with county regulations based on material-test reports and field inspections. A separate concurrence letter from the project’s engineer says the closeout review included site observations, contractor submittals, record drawings and testing reports.
The recorded plat defines Simmons Valley South Entry Road as a 1.706-acre tract near U.S. 281, about 0.19 miles north of Rebecca Creek Road. Its notes identify 0.80 acres and 418 feet for public right of way, along with a drainage lot and an open-space and utility lot.
The vote remains pending. Commissioners Court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 1 in the courtroom at 100 Main Plaza in New Braunfels. Residents can inspect the agenda and its attachment list to follow the proposal before the meeting; the vote and any executed permit will establish what takes effect next.
