The proposed 2027 TCDRS agreement sets a 7% employee deposit rate, 200% employer matching and a 3% flat-rate cost-of-living adjustment.
Comal County commissioners are scheduled to consider the agreement at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Commissioners Courtroom at 100 Main Plaza in New Braunfels. The posted agenda places the proposal at item 13; approval would authorize the county judge to sign it.
The plan sheet lists an 11.56% retirement-plan rate and a 0.19% group-term-life rate, producing a total county contribution rate of 11.75%. It also lists three retirement-eligibility routes: age 60 with eight years of service, a combined age-and-service total of 75, or 30 years of service at any age. The document separates the employee deposit from the county contribution and breaks the county total into retirement-plan and group-term-life components. It presents eligibility as three alternative routes rather than a single age or service threshold.
If commissioners approve the agreement, Comal County employees covered by TCDRS would participate under those listed terms, and the plan would take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
The Oct. 1 vote is the next decision point. Residents can inspect agenda item 13 to verify the proposal’s status and the one-page agreement to compare the contribution, matching, eligibility and optional-benefit terms before the meeting.
