Comal County’s mental health crisis facility could add $138,739.94 in construction costs under a change order proposed for Thursday.
The request is tied to the Mental Health Extended Observation Unit/Crisis Residential Unit Facility Project. The agenda identifies The Trevino Group as the contractor and principal American Rescue Plan Act funds as the proposed funding source.
Commissioners are scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 in the Commissioners Courtroom at 100 Main Plaza in New Braunfels. No approval or project-cost increase has occurred based on the agenda alone.
A Price Without the Revised Total
The agenda names the request as Change Order No. 10 but does not state what work the additional money would buy, the project’s original contract price or the cumulative value of earlier changes. It also does not provide a revised completion date or say how much principal ARPA money would remain.
Those missing figures matter because a change order alters an existing construction agreement. Without the original contract and prior changes, residents cannot calculate the proposed addition’s effect on the facility’s full construction cost from the posted agenda.
The Decision Thursday
The item appears on the court’s action agenda, allowing commissioners to discuss and vote on it during the public meeting. An approval, rejection, amendment or postponement must be confirmed through the recorded vote or later county documents.
