Comal County's election office recommends staffing caps totaling 214 positions across 26 proposed Nov. 3 vote centers, with six to 10 workers allowed at each site.
The proposal assigns each listed vote center a maximum crew of six, eight or 10 people, including one presiding judge and one alternate judge.
Seven locations carry six-worker caps, nine carry eight-worker caps and 10 carry 10-worker caps. Adding the limits in the county table produces the proposed maximum of 214 positions.
The totals are staffing ceilings for each location. They include the two election judges at every site, so the remaining room for other clerks ranges from four people at a six-person center to eight at a 10-person center.
The staffing plan adds an operating layer to the county’s previously posted network of 26 proposed Election Day vote centers. Under that proposal, an eligible Comal County voter may use any listed center.
Locations with the largest caps include the Comal County Senior Citizens Center, Mammen Family Public Library, Westside Public Library and the Comal County offices on Church Hill Drive. Other sites are assigned smaller limits in the same proposal.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider the staffing limits Aug. 20. The vote would establish the authorized maximums; recruitment and backup coverage will determine how many of those positions are staffed on Election Day.
