The Texas secretary of state says Monday, Oct. 5, is the voter registration deadline for the Nov. 3 general election. Comal County residents seeking to register for the November election face the same Oct. 5 deadline as other Texas voters.

Applying by mail

A mailed voter registration application must be postmarked on or before Oct. 5, according to the secretary of state’s Sept. 28 announcement. This deadline concerns registering to vote; a ballot-by-mail application is a different form and process.

Check your registration

The state directs voters to VoteTexas.gov for voter registration status and application information. Checking a status is useful for residents who are unsure whether their registration is current; getting information through the website should not be mistaken for submitting an online registration application.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election is scheduled for Oct. 19–30, the secretary of state says. Residents can use the state’s voter information site to inspect registration guidance ahead of the Oct. 5 deadline.
