Schertz canceled its Sept. 1 City Council meeting after a posting error and now expects the agenda items to return Sept. 15. The city disclosed the delay in an official cancellation notice posted Friday.
Residents tracking the fiscal 2027 budget and property-tax rate should now watch Sept. 15, when the city expects the canceled agenda items to return.
Before the cancellation, Schertz identified the Sept. 1 meeting as the point for council votes on the proposed budget and tax rate. The posting error therefore delays decisions that determine city spending and the property-tax rate for the coming fiscal year.
The cancellation also interrupts the city’s previously advertised public-meeting schedule. Schertz says the displaced items are anticipated—not guaranteed—to return at the next regular council meeting, so the forthcoming agenda will establish the final list and order of business.
The City Council normally meets at the Municipal Complex Council Chambers, 1400 Schertz Parkway. Residents can verify the current delay in the city notice; the Sept. 15 agenda, once posted, will show whether the budget, tax rate and other displaced items return for action.
