Schertz residents looking for used city vehicles, electronics or office furniture now have a new place to bid: the city has shifted its online surplus sales to Public Surplus.
Schertz moved its online surplus auctions from GovDeals to Public Surplus. The city says the listings may include office furniture, electronics, vehicles and other property it no longer needs. Buyers can create a free account on the auction platform before placing a bid.
Winning bidders pay an 8.5% buyer’s premium in addition to applicable sales tax. That means an item with a $100 winning bid would carry an $8.50 platform premium before tax, bringing the pre-tax amount to $108.50.
Schertz says revenue from the sales returns to the city to offset municipal expenses. Residents interested in a particular item should inspect its individual listing for the bidding deadline, condition details and pickup instructions before committing money; the city announcement establishes the platform change but does not describe any one item currently for sale.
