Drivers could see revised traffic-control and drainage plans for Lower Seguin Road under a proposed engineering amendment.

Schertz City Council is scheduled to consider adding up to $876,415 to Halff’s Lower Seguin Road design task order on Oct. 20. The proposal appears as consent item 2 in the council packet under Resolution 26-R-120; its inclusion on the agenda does not establish an outcome.

The amendment would raise the engineering ceiling from about $2.7 million to about $3.5 million. Those are the proposed task-order ceilings, not a construction bid. The project segment runs about 2.52 miles, from roughly 1,000 feet east of Loop 1604 to FM 1518.

Why the design work is expanding

The proposed work includes revised traffic-control and drainage plans for a 2.52-mile stretch of Lower Seguin Road. For drivers, those plans concern how the corridor would be designed; the amendment itself is an engineering proposal. The draft also calls for redesign around Cibolo Creek Regional Authority pipelines and coordination with other utilities.

The described utility work includes design for adjustments or relocation of approximately 11,000 linear feet of Schertz waterlines and a roughly 600-foot sewer crossing near Aranda Lane and Canopy Bend. Additional right-of-way survey work and pursuit of state or federal grants are also in the proposed scope. Those tasks explain what the added engineering authority would cover; the packet does not record a grant award.

What happens next

Council’s scheduled Oct. 20 consideration is the next decision point for Resolution 26-R-120. Readers can inspect the proposed amendment for its scope and cost ceiling. The council outcome and any executed amendment will establish whether, and on what terms, the added work is authorized.
