Schertz City Council approved a 4% raise and a one-year contract extension for City Manager Steve Williams on Oct. 13, voting 7-0. The action followed his annual evaluation, according to the verified outcome of the council’s recorded Item 19 action.

The raise increases the city’s cost of paying its manager, while the extension adds one year to his contract. The percentage establishes the size of the raise relative to his existing pay; it does not, by itself, establish a new salary or the added annual dollar cost.

The council’s posted agenda placed Williams’ annual evaluation in closed session as Item 16 and reserved Item 19 for any action after the council returned to regular session. The recorded action supplies the result: approval, rather than a proposal awaiting a decision.

The next useful check is the written contract or compensation record, which would show the effective dates, salary and dollar effect of the raise. Residents can inspect the council’s Item 19 action in the meeting video and use the agenda to identify the evaluation and action items.
