Schertz City Council approved a 4% raise and one-year contract extension for City Manager Steve Williams on Oct. 13. The council’s recorded vote was 7-0, according to the verified outcome from the official meeting video.

The raise changes the compensation taxpayers fund for the city manager, but the verified outcome gives no dollar amount for the increase. A percentage alone does not show the annual cost without the salary it applies to.

The posted agenda reserved Item 19 for possible action after the city manager’s annual evaluation.

The action followed Williams’ annual evaluation. The posted agenda placed that personnel evaluation in closed session as Item 16 and reserved Item 19 for any action afterward. The verified outcome establishes the raise, extension and vote; it does not establish a new salary figure or the extension’s end date.

The next useful check is the executed contract or a city compensation record showing the salary before and after the raise and the extension dates. Residents can use Item 19 on the council agenda to identify the action and the official video to inspect the recorded result.
