The Regional Workforce Education Alliance’s Oct. 13 agenda puts a two-county workforce study update and an upcoming CTTC building tenancy discussion before members.

Both are scheduled as discussions. The same agenda separately lists approval of earlier minutes, so readers should distinguish that proposed action from the two topics they may want to follow. The posted Oct. 13 agenda provides the full order of business.

What the workforce study update covers

Item 26-1221 schedules a discussion and update on the Comal and Guadalupe counties workforce study. The city item record says RWEA approved the workforce study Feb. 10 and identifies Dr. Christopher Dayley of Texas State University as its conductor. It also says the Seguin and New Braunfels councils approved resolutions supporting the study collaboration. Those earlier steps explain why the study is returning to the alliance; they are background to Tuesday’s scheduled update, not new decisions at this meeting. The study item record describes the upcoming presentation as a status update.

Residents in Comal and Guadalupe counties can track the next public update on a workforce study the alliance previously approved. The useful points to listen for are the study’s methods, the timetable for results and how the two counties’ workforce needs will be described. Those are questions for the scheduled update, rather than findings established by the item description.

CTTC tenancy and other business

Item 26-1239 schedules discussion of upcoming CTTC building tenancy. The CTTC item record identifies that subject in its title. Residents following the building can use the discussion to learn what tenancy arrangement members describe and what subsequent public record will document it. The item’s placement under discussion should not be read as an approval of a tenant or terms.

Members are scheduled to consider approval of the Aug. 11 meeting minutes under item 26-1219. Item 26-1220 is a clarification of the alliance’s bylaws. The agenda identifies these as separate matters from the study and tenancy discussions. A proposed minutes approval would concern the record of the earlier meeting; it would not, by itself, establish an outcome for the Oct. 13 discussion items.

Item 26-1222 schedules an update from the Workforce and ISDs Committee. Item 26-1223 schedules initiative updates from ISDs, postsecondary institutions, the FAME Lone Star Chapter, the chamber, workforce industries and cities. Together, these updates give readers a way to hear which participating groups report work in progress, while the published agenda supplies no Oct. 13 result to report in advance.

How to attend and follow the record

The alliance is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:45 a.m. in the NLC at NB board room, 2193 FM 758. The agenda also provides for roll call, a quorum check, citizens’ communications and adjournment. Its citizens’ communications slot is for concerns outside the listed agenda, and the agenda says the committee cannot take action on those concerns at that time. Readers who want to prepare a comment or check the order of business can inspect the official agenda before attending.

After the meeting, the next verification point is the official meeting record: it can establish whether the minutes were approved and what, if anything, members did on other items. Until then, the posted study item record identifies the planned update, and the posted CTTC item record identifies the tenancy topic. Neither discussion title is an Oct. 13 decision.
