S. Kowald Lane Filing Puts a 2028 Widening on Record

The city-owned project covers the corridor from the I-35 northbound frontage road to FM 1101 and carries a June 2028 start date.

A state accessibility filing registers a $1.3 million City of New Braunfels project to reconstruct and widen South Kowald Lane from the I-35 northbound frontage road to FM 1101.

Drivers and pedestrians along the corridor would get turn lanes, drainage improvements and sidewalks if the registered project proceeds as filed.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration describes 475,397 square feet of new construction. It lists a planned start date of June 1, 2028, and a completion date of July 31, 2030.

The project is currently registered, an early state accessibility stage. The filing identifies the City of New Braunfels as the owner and Poznecki-Camarillo, LLC as the design firm.

The registration classifies the work as involving public funds, public land or a federally funded roadway project. It does not specify which of those classifications applies to this project.

TDLR rules included with the registration require the owner to obtain an accessibility inspection within one year after construction is completed and to request that inspection within 30 calendar days after completion.

The next checkpoints are a city authorization, a project-specific funding record and a construction plan. Those records would establish how the work will be paid for and what traffic restrictions residents should expect.
