New Braunfels has scheduled an Oct. 22 open house where residents can review preliminary plans for two 2023 bond road projects: South Kowald Lane and Conrads Lane.

Drivers and nearby residents can examine proposed lane, sidewalk and drainage changes and give city staff feedback at the open house.

What each project proposes

The South Kowald Lane project covers the stretch from the Interstate 35 frontage road to FM 1101. Its preliminary scope includes two driving lanes and a center turn lane, shoulders, sidewalks on both sides, a traffic signal at FM 1101, and drainage and pedestrian upgrades. The city estimates its cost at $10.7 million and tentatively places construction between July 2028 and November 2029.

The Conrads Lane project runs from FM 1102 to Goodwin Lane. The city proposes driving lanes, a median and turn lane, additional turn lanes, a wider intersection radius at Goodwin Lane, a shared-use path, and drainage and pedestrian upgrades. Its estimated cost is $11.8 million, with a tentative construction window from April 2028 to July 2029.
