New Braunfels says it will offer free rabies vaccinations to the first 300 eligible dogs and cats at City Hall on Saturday, Oct. 24. The drive-through clinic is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon at 550 Landa St., according to the city’s announcement.
City residents may bring up to four dogs or cats each, but they must show a state-issued ID and a current utility bill as proof of residency. Vaccinations will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, the city says. Residents will also need to provide their name, address and basic information about each pet to receive a rabies certificate.
Drivers should enter the City Hall parking lot from Laurel Lane. The city says the Landa Street entrance will be closed for the clinic; vehicles will move through the lot and exit onto Walnut Avenue. New Braunfels is hosting the clinic with Best Friends Animal Society.
The 300-pet limit applies to vaccinations, so arriving during clinic hours does not guarantee one. Residents planning to go can check the city’s clinic notice for the eligibility rules and driving route before leaving home.
