New Braunfels has opened fall applications for 19 city boards and commissions, with submissions due by the close of business Sept. 30.
The fall cycle includes panels for utilities, economic development, parks, libraries, rivers and five reinvestment zones, giving applicants a direct route into city service.
Terms expiring in the fall end Nov. 30, and new terms begin Dec. 1. The city says applicants may upload a résumé and cover letter through its online process. Eligibility varies by panel, and appointees must complete one hour of Texas Open Meetings Act training.
The Panels Accepting Applications
The list includes the Animal Services Advisory Board, Building Standards Commission, Cemetery Committee, Civil Service Commission, Community Development Advisory Committee, Landa Park Golf Course Advisory Board, Library Advisory Board, New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation and New Braunfels Utilities Board of Trustees.
Other openings cover the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Partnership Committee, River Advisory Committee, Roadway Impact Fee Advisory Committee and Workforce Housing Advisory Committee. Applicants may also seek appointments to the Creekside, River Mill, Downtown, Zipp Park and West End tax-increment reinvestment-zone panels.

The Aug. 4 notice does not list the number of open seats by panel or spell out each panel’s residency, district or professional qualifications. Prospective applicants should review the city’s description for the specific board before submitting materials.
The seat count and panel-specific qualifications would show where vacancies are concentrated and which residents are eligible. The next decisive records will be the city’s appointment agendas and City Council actions naming members for terms beginning Dec. 1.
