Council is scheduled to consider a lower speed limit for residential areas off Lake Front Avenue on Oct. 12.

The Lake Front proposal is scheduled for a second and final reading. Residents who use those streets would face the proposed lower posted limit if council adopts the ordinance. The posted agenda also places a Solms Road design contract modification and an airport control-tower grant application before council.

Streets, design and airport funding

The Lake Front item asks council to give final consideration to an ordinance reducing the speed limit in the residential area off Lake Front Avenue. Its placement at a second and final reading gives residents a clear decision point, but the posted item is still a proposal. The Oct. 12 meeting is the next scheduled council consideration of the Lake Front ordinance. Drivers and nearby residents can use the ordinance item to check the streets and limit before commenting.

Council is scheduled to consider a contract modification with STV, Inc., for final design of Solms Road. This is a design-contract decision; the agenda does not make it a construction award. For people who travel the corridor, the question is what work the modification would add and how it would affect the path to a finished road project.

Council is also scheduled to consider authority to apply for a fiscal 2027 Federal Aviation Administration contract-tower grant. Application authority would let the city seek federal support for the airport tower; it would not, by itself, establish a grant award. The next useful records will be council's action and, if an application proceeds, the grant decision.

Other decisions on the docket

The individual-business section includes a proposal to state New Braunfels Utilities' expectation of reimbursement from future debt, a proposed Gener8tor incubator agreement of up to $1.125 million, changes to the Downtown Board's purpose and bylaws, and Charter Review Commission membership and appointments. Those items concern how the city finances work, supports businesses and staffs advisory bodies; each awaits council consideration.

The consent section groups approval of prior meeting minutes, a Landa Park golf bunker contract and a final-reading ordinance on authorized fire and police positions with the Solms, airport and Lake Front proposals. Consent placement means these items may be handled together unless pulled for separate discussion; it does not tell readers how council will act. The agenda also schedules Living Legends and R.O.A.D. Ready proclamations, presentations on a council-chamber motto and proposed residential solid-waste rates, and closed-session notices concerning city management, legal matters and a board code of conduct. Any public action following a closed session would have to be established by a later outcome record.

How to attend and comment

New Braunfels City Council is scheduled to meet Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 550 Landa St. The agenda provides a general Citizens' Communications period for subjects outside its posted items and allows comments on posted business when those items are called. A resident who wants a consent item pulled must be present. Anyone using a digital presentation file must upload it to the City Secretary online at least two hours before the meeting. Accessibility aid requests go to the City Secretary at (830) 221-4010 at least two work days beforehand.

Residents can inspect the posted meeting agenda to locate an item before speaking. The next verification point is the council's Oct. 12 action record: it will show which proposals moved forward, changed or did not receive approval.
