The next NBU bill lands under a new set of rates. At the utility’s own published sample usage, our comparison comes to one clear number: about $15.56 more per month in the listed components we measured.
New Braunfels Utilities’ second year of previously approved electric, water, and wastewater rate changes takes effect Saturday, August 1.
For a customer using the sample volumes NBU publishes—1,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity, 6,000 gallons of water, and 4,600 gallons of wastewater—the listed fixed and delivery-or-usage components in the new tables are about $15.56 higher per month than in FY26.

NBU’s own announcement said an average residential customer receiving all three services would see an increase of about $16, or about $26 with irrigation. The independent table above lands close to the first estimate while making clear which published line items were compared.
The New Braunfels City Council approved the two-year plan on June 23, 2025. NBU said the FY26–27 capital plan directs $534.5 million to 121 projects, including water-treatment, storage, wastewater, and electric-system work.
Among the projects NBU lists are a $55.7 million surface-water treatment project, $53.6 million for the McKenzie water-reclamation facility, $47 million for the Kuehler facility, and $87.4 million for electric extensions, meters, and transformers.
