Comal County commissioners unanimously approved the results of the Nov. 7, 2023 constitutional-amendment election. The action came during a Nov. 16 special meeting devoted to the county canvass.
The recorded action made Comal County’s Nov. 7 constitutional-amendment results the approved county canvass for an election in which 17.64% of 134,707 registered voters participated. Those figures provide the clearest local measure in the archived outcome record: fewer than one in five registered voters took part.
The posted agenda listed one proposed action: canvassing the Nov. 7 election results. The meeting notice placed the special session in the Commissioners Courtroom at 100 Main Plaza in New Braunfels, keeping the assignment narrow and leaving the outcome to the later minutes.
The special-meeting minutes identify four commissioners as present: Donna Eccleston, Scott Haag, Kevin Webb and Jen Crownover. County Judge Sherman Krause was absent, and Eccleston conducted the meeting. County Clerk Bobbie Koepp was also listed in attendance.
After Eccleston reported the registration and turnout figures and read the election results, Haag made the recorded motion to approve them. Webb seconded it, and the minutes state that every commissioner voting supported the motion.
The two official documents show different start times. The agenda scheduled the special meeting for 9:30 a.m.; the minutes’ opening paragraph says the court met at 8:30 a.m., while the same minutes record a 9:34 a.m. recess. That discrepancy does not alter the recorded vote, but residents checking the archive will encounter both times.
The minutes were attested on Nov. 20, four days after the court’s vote. That signed chronology moves the public record from a scheduled canvass to a documented approval, while the proposition-level and precinct-level figures remain useful subjects for a deeper election-results review.
