Garden Ridge says oak wilt has been found in the Forest Waters area, and its Public Works report logged one new case.
Residents can attend a Texas A&M Forest Service oak-wilt seminar at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Garden Ridge Community and Event Center.
The same city packet lists oak-wilt monitoring among Public Works' continuing responsibilities. Its proposed fiscal 2027 budget also includes $12,000 for an Oak Wilt Program, creating a specific funding line for the coming year. The packet does not establish that the budget item has been adopted.
The complete meeting package does not quantify how many trees are affected or describe a containment plan. Those answers will require a later Public Works update, the city's budget outcome record and confirmation details from officials responsible for monitoring the disease.
