Garden Ridge's adopted fiscal 2027 budget sets a property-tax rate of $0.254138 per $100 of taxable value. The City Council adopted the fiscal 2027 budget and tax rate on Sept. 2. The city's fiscal year began Oct. 1.

The rate and revenue change

The prior fiscal year's property-tax rate was $0.246430 per $100 of taxable value. Both rates are annual property-tax rates. For Garden Ridge taxpayers, the adopted rate is higher than last year's rate, but the citywide revenue increase is not a measure of any individual tax bill.

The budget projects $54,259, or 2.054%, more property-tax revenue than the prior year's budget. Of that added budgeted revenue, $5,560 is attributed to newly added property. These are budgeted citywide amounts; they do not state how much a particular homeowner will pay.

What the adopted figures establish

The rate is the city's levy against taxable value. The $54,259 figure compares property-tax revenue in two annual budgets, and the $5,560 figure identifies the portion the budget attributes to newly added property. Neither figure describes an individual property's taxable value or exemptions. Readers can inspect the city's adopted budget for the underlying rate and revenue entries.

The next public-record check is the city's fiscal 2027 budget detail and subsequent property-tax collection reports, which can show how the adopted plan compares with actual revenue.
