Bexar County ESD 4’s Sept. 3 presentation lists Fair Oaks Ranch at ISO Class 3/3Y, improving the second part of its prior 3/8B classification.

Fair Oaks Ranch residents now have a documented, improved classification of the community’s ability to provide fire protection and mitigate building-fire risk. The packet describes the Public Protection Classification as the result of field evaluations of community firefighting capability.

The presentation lists the city’s previous 2014 rating as 3/8B. It says a summer 2025 review pointed toward a weaker 4/9 result before the district spent 10 months compiling fire-department data; the current slides list Fair Oaks Ranch at 3/3Y and Bexar County ESD 4 at 2/2Y.

The operational update says a new ladder truck entered service Aug. 3. It also lists an EMT class that started Aug. 10, hiring activity and training work, while naming deployment analysis, a training facility and company personnel as improvement areas on the path toward Class 1.

The materials do not identify a date for the next classification review. The useful next records are ESD 4’s supporting classification documentation and future deployment, staffing and training-facility plans, which would show what changed and how the district intends to close the remaining gap.

Bexar County ESD 4 is scheduled to present the update during item 13 of the Fair Oaks Ranch City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3. Residents can inspect the agenda for the meeting location and livestream route.
