Comal ISD says Davenport High School’s band was named the 2027 TMEA Class 4A Honor Band. The designation moves Davenport’s student musicians into statewide honor-band recognition for the 2027 year.
The district says Davenport is the first Comal ISD school and the first in the San Antonio area to earn the title. That gives the students’ ensemble a place in district history as well as statewide recognition.
Comal ISD posted the result Aug. 28. The district identifies TMEA as the Texas Music Educators Association and says the Class 4A designation places Davenport among the state’s distinguished band programs.
The people most directly affected are the students who make up the band. Their full school ensemble now carries the 2027 title, while Davenport High School and Comal ISD receive their first recognition in this statewide honor-band category.
The next useful record will be a TMEA or district performance notice establishing when and where Davenport will appear as the honor ensemble. That notice also could give students, families and other supporters the practical details needed to attend.
Readers can use the district news page to verify the Aug. 28 announcement and watch for a performance date, venue and participation details as Comal ISD posts them.
