Comal County’s adopted FY2027 budget adds 33 positions and sets aside $952,050 for nine sheriff posts identified as Comal ISD school resource officers.
Commissioners Court adopted the $214,178,527 spending plan Sept. 17. The number to watch is the price of the positions once the full adopted staffing schedule is counted—not the price of the entire county budget.
What the checked positions cost
The listed additions are assigned to district courts, Comal ISD school resource officers and public health. Comal.News checked selected rows in the adopted Court’s Budget column, rather than treating department requests or the county judge’s proposal as final spending. These rows illustrate where part of the 33-position expansion goes; they are not a total for every new post.
Comal.News’ check of the adopted rows finds $130,561 for a district-court reporter, $84,270 for a court administrator, $805,680 for eight sheriff deputies, $146,370 for one sheriff lieutenant and $40,277 for a public-health coordinator with a July 1, 2027, start date. The deputy figure is eight budgeted posts at $100,710 each. Adding the lieutenant yields the $952,050 school resource officer subtotal.
