Comal County commissioners are scheduled to consider FY2027 specialty-court grant awards of $97,990.20 for Accountability Court, $29,260 for Mental Health Court and $104,047 for Challenge Felony Drug Court on Oct. 15.

The notice was posted Oct. 9 at 4:30 p.m. and lists matters for an Oct. 15 meeting. If approved, the three proposed awards would provide the listed FY2027 funding to Comal County's specialty courts. These are requests for approval at a future meeting, not decisions already made.

Specialty-court funding and agreements

The grant requests appear as three separate action items, numbered 20, 22 and 23. Commissioners are also scheduled to consider agreements with the Community Supervision and Corrections Department in items 21 and 24. The agenda links those agreements to the court business, but the proposed awards and the agreements are separate matters for the court to take up. Readers should check the subsequent meeting record for the action on each item before treating any of the requested funding as approved.

Subdivision plats and development requests

Flying W Unit 3 is listed for final-plat approval, a construction bond and variance requests under item 17. Westridge Single Family is listed for final-plat approval, a public right-of-way dedication and a construction bond under item 18. These requests matter to residents watching how new subdivision roads and lots move through county review. A final plat on the agenda is a proposed approval; the posted notice does not establish the terms of any action commissioners may take.

Items 10 through 16 list additional plat amendments, a construction bond and a Bluffs replat. They are distinct from the two final-plat requests. Anyone following a particular property should use its numbered entry in the official agenda and then compare that entry with the court's later action record, because one subdivision's result will not establish another's.

Other county business

The court is scheduled to receive a claims item, consider a $500 expo donation and consider gift cards totaling $420 for Veterans Treatment Court under items 1 through 3. Items 4 through 9 are proclamations and recognitions. Item 19 is a tax collections report. These entries give residents a way to locate routine financial and ceremonial business without confusing those entries with the larger grant and land-development requests.

Items 25 and 26 propose emergency-services district board changes, and items 27 through 30 propose line-item transfers. Item 31 gives notice of a possible executive session on real estate, economic development and legal matters. That notice describes a potential closed discussion; it is not itself a public decision or evidence that a particular action has occurred. Any later public action would need to be checked against the meeting's outcome record.

Citizen comments and attending

The workshop includes a Citizen Comments slot for general or item-specific remarks of up to three minutes. Its other listed entries are staff reports, a county best-practices award and walking-team recognition. The premeeting notice sets out an opportunity to speak; it cannot establish what residents will say or how commissioners or staff will respond. Readers interested in a grant, plat or other numbered matter can identify that entry before the meeting and check the resulting minutes or recording afterward for testimony and any response.

Comal County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom, 100 Main Plaza, New Braunfels. Commissioners are scheduled to take up the proposed grant awards, plats and other listed business at the Oct. 15 meeting. The official Oct. 15 agenda identifies each request by number; the next verification point is the court's meeting record showing whether each proposal was approved, changed or deferred.
