Comal County’s posted burn status changes from off to an outdoor-burning prohibition at 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, under Order 570.
Starting Friday morning, people subject to the county order may not use campfires, fire pits, burn piles or burn household waste; lidded barbecue pits used for cooking remain allowed.
The county’s Orders and Resolutions page now lists Order 570 as a burn ban dated Aug. 20 and effective at 6 a.m. Aug. 21. The Fire Marshal page separately says Commissioners Court issued the order Thursday.
The Fire Marshal’s prohibited list also includes chimineas, fire rings, bonfires, glowing burn-pile embers and non-wood construction materials. Its cooking exception applies to a barbecue pit with a lid that contains sparks and flames.
The Fire Marshal page retains an earlier line saying the burn ban was off as of April 19, followed by the new Order 570 notice. Those entries document the movement from the prior off status to Friday’s restriction and resolve the timing question in Comal.News’ earlier burn-ban preview.
The county order takes effect at 6 a.m. Friday. Anyone planning an outdoor fire should compare the activity with the Fire Marshal’s allowed and prohibited lists before that deadline. For questions about a particular property, an exception or the restriction’s duration, the county page provides the linked Order 570 PDF containing the signed text.
